Je prends présentement des commandes pour des encadrements de photos. Je fais une série comme les grandes au Laughing Buddha (20 x 30"). Le coût est de 250$ chaque, avec une réduction si vous en commandez plus qu'une. D'autres grandeurs sont disponibles.

Je fais aussi une série encadrée avec vitre de façon traditionnelle. Le coût est de 100$ pour une 6 x 9", et le prix monte en fonction de la grandeur. Les autres grandeurs disponibles sont 8 x 12", 12 x 18", 18 x 24", et 24 x 36". Tous sont des C-prints, imprimés sur papier photographique de qualité archivique. Ces photos sont aussi disponibles sans cadre. SVP me contacter pour les prix.

Presque toutes les photos sur ce site sont disponibles. La majorité des photos sont d'un tirage limité de 10, alors la photo que vous achetez sera signée, numérotée, et unique.

I'm currently taking orders for framed prints of the photos on this site. I do two types of framing. One is the 20 x 30" box framing like the ones currently at the Laughing Buddha. Those are $250 with a reduction in price for multiple orders. Other sizes are also available.

I also do more traditional framing with white mat and glass. Prices start at $100 for a framed 6 x 9" The other available sizes are 8 x 12", 12 x 18", 18 x 24", and 24 x 36". All are C-prints printed on archival quality photographic paper. These prints are also available unframed. Email me for prices.

Nearly all photographs on this site are available. Most of my prints are limited series of 10, meaning that your print will be numbered, signed, and therefore unique.

City Councillors Help Send Kids to Camp

SUDBURY, ON- The Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation's (SMCF) Charity Chairs Auction happens this Saturday at the Radisson Hotel. Twenty four uniquely and beautifully decorated Muskoka chairs are available for advance auction bidding until July 11 at www.mysudbury.ca/smcf. After July 11 the highest bidders will be notified of their bid and invited to attend the live auction on Saturday, July 14.

In addition to the 18 corporate and individual sponsors 6 city councillors have also sponsored chairs for the auction.

Ward 7 Councillor Russ Thompson is participating in the auction because he believes the chair auction is a unique opportunity to help children in our area and at the same time providing the successful bidders with a beautiful and functional chair. From strawberries and fish, to wildlife, nature and local landmarks, Greater Sudbury artist have represented the councillors well. Ward 2 councillor Jacques Barbeau hopes the auction will help put a smile on the faces of many young children. One unique councillor chair is the slag pit decorated by artist Jim Cook and sponsored by Councillor Joe Cimino. “The slag dumping in years past was viewed in awe from the ward one communities of Gatchell and the West-end" said Cimino. A strawberry with a fish decorated by ward 12 resident Marianna Lafrance and sponsored by Councillor Joscelyne Landry Altmann is symbolic of the simple summer pleasures of catching fish and eating strawberries. “Our northern lifestyle includes simple camp activities. Yet, for some the opportunity is not there” said Councillor Landry-Altmann. Councillors Ron Dupuis and Frances Caldarelli have also sponsored chairs.

This fund raiser makes it possible for children to experience simple pleasures. Since 1984, SMCF has provided over 10,000 disadvantaged children between the ages of 6 and 14 with wonderful camping experiences. SMCF receives referrals from over 36 social agencies in the Sudbury Manitoulin area. This year SMCF has received 811 referrals and to date have successfully placed 676 children in 17 camps across the province.

Bidders have until July 11 to place their advance bids at www.mysudbury.ca/smcf. A live auction will be held at the Radisson Hotel on Camp Day, Saturday, July 14. There will be a public viewing from 12pm to 3pm followed by the live auction. For more information please call 673-2227.

Ce soir: Le vernissage de l'exposition "Coeur de pomme" au Laughing Buddha commence vers 20h00. L'expo est une série de neuf photos grand format, dont quelques une on déjà paru sur ce site, et certaines autres sont des surprises. L'expo dure jusqu'à la mi-juin.

Tonight is the opening of the exhibition Sudburicity at the Laughing Buddha on Elgin Street downtown. Nine large-format photographs are hanging on the walls of the Buddha until mid-juin, some having appeared on this site, and others have yet to. Opening is around 8pm and all are welcome!

C'est toujours discordant pour moi d'entendre les gens dire comment laid est le centre ville. En manque d'attention et d'aménagement, oui, et vieux et un peu abandonné, d'accord, mais laid? À quoi rêvent-ils? À Venise? (À Paris?) Regardez un peu plus creux, un peu plus proche, pour un peu plus longtemps.

I don't think downtown is an ugly place at all. It needs more attention, more planning. Until then it needs a bit more looking at - deeper, closer, longer.

What I love best about this scene is the upsidedown 8.

La construction en brique est devenue la norme à Sudbury quand une loi municipale passe en 1910 qui exige l'utilisation de ce matériau dans les projets de construction au centre ville. Cette loi à été créée pour diminuer le taux d'incendies. Mais, le bois se faisait de plus en plus rare dans la région, ce qui augmentait ses prix et créait une force économique qui favorisait la brique.

Timber frame buildings disappeared and brick construction became the norm in Sudbury after a by-law was passed in 1910 requiring the use of brick in the city core, mostly for fire prevention. Also, with the receding forests, lumber became rarer and more expensive, creating an economic force that favoured brick as a building material rather than lumber.
